Inventorying Your Stored Items

Taking inventory of your items before Spaceship moves them into storage is important for:

• Tracking & accountability of the items that we picked up and moved into and out of storage
• Enabling you to retrieve specific items from storage by logging into your spaceship dashboard, and selecting the specific items you want returned

Spaceship’s inventory-taking & tracking

1. Before moving your items from your place to storage, barcode labels are pasted on each carton and each loose item (items that do not fit into cartons). 
2. A physical hard copy inventory list will also be written with default non-customisable item names
3. Thereafter, barcodes are scanned so we know which items were picked up from your place
4. When your items arrive at our storage facility, barcodes are scanned again to tally the items we received against what we scanned

How your items are inventoried

To label your cartons or items, the following fields are used:

• Ref #: Unique running number starting from 1
• Item Name: E.g. Dining Table, Sofa, SS Box
• Barcode ID: System generated

Default Item Name format

A default Item Name format is used by Spaceship when we write your inventory.

Here’s an example of how your items will be inventoried when you access your online dashboard

Customising Item Names of your items

Should you wish to have the Item Name customized, inform the Spaceship Team. The max character length for customized Item Names is 25 characters. 

You’ll be given a hardcopy inventory list for you to write down your customised Item Name under the column “Item Name”

The Spaceship team will go through, together with you, the customized Item Names that you've written on the hardcopy inventory list (not on the cartons). Subsequently, the Spaceship team will paste a label (with a reference number) on the item, and add the reference number to the item row in the hardcopy inventory.

Writing content descriptions on cartons

The description you’ve written on the carton will not be updated in the Spaceship inventory list. It is for your own reference. You may take a photo for future reference.

Writing carton content descriptions (see image below) on Spaceship’s cartons may be useful for you. When cartons are returned to you, not all the cartons will be unpacked at once, and having additional content may come in handy for identifying the cartons you want to unpack.
