Kits are a group of product SKUs that:
- Have multiple quantities of the same product SKU
- Have multiple product SKUs
- Combination of the above
The Kitting Order tells us how you want your inventory or orders prepared before your products are shipped to your customers. Such kitting orders are required when:
- Your items arrive at Spaceship’s Fulfilment Centre (FC) in individual SKUs, or
- Your items are already inbounded and put away into storage, and must be assembled/packaged together.
Some important things to consider when submitting a kitting order:
- Each kitting order is subject to a flat fee (workstation setup and training) and a kitting fee based on the preset actions required to complete the kitting order.
- If the items are already put away in storage, a standard item-picking fee will apply
- The end kitted item is a physical item that will be stored (bin/shelf/pallet) within Spaceship’s FC, and will incur warehousing storage fees.
Kitting orders must be self-contained - you’ll provide all SKUs, stickers, and custom packaging if required.
- We do not provide zip-lock bags, clear plastic, or other materials.
- If additional supplies are required, these must be stored as it’s on SKU. Each of these SKUs will have its own location within the Spaceship FC, will incur warehousing storage fees, and are considered a pick on your kitting order.
Kitting Order SLA
For up to 500 total end-kitted products with each end-kitted product requiring a kitting activity of <10 actions, the SLA is 4 business days
For kitting orders greater than 500 total end-kitted products, the SLA depends on the order size and complexity and is set for each kitting order individually. Please contact your Account Manager.
The Kitting Process (min. 50 kits)
- Submit a kitting request to your Account Manager. You will need to provide a confirm list of the following:
- Dimension (LWH and weight) and quantities of each SKU that will be packed into 1 kit unit
- The outer packaging for the kit (not the shipping box)
- Your Account Manager will work with you to confirm the kitting requirements and list the kitting actions required.
- When the kitting actions are finalized, you’ll receive a price quote for the kitting order
- Upon finalizing and acceptance of kitting actions and fees, your Kitting Order is ready to be worked on
- 2 test kits will be prepared, and photos of the kitted product will be sent to you for confirmation
- Upon confirmation, the kitting process will commence
- A dedicated kitting station(s) will be set up
- Packers will undergo training
- Kits will be packed in batches
- For the first 2 batches, the warehouse manager will inspect the kitted product before the packers seal the kitted product
- Upon completion of each batch, the kitted unit is ready to be moved to the next stage (put away to storage, or direct outbound)
